On 3 December 2025, Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Mrs. Natsamol Tanakulrungsarit, Vice President for Legal and Communications, acting on behalf of the KKU President, participated alongside University personnel in the annual Bun Khun Mueang Khon Kaen Traditional Festival 2025. Mr. Phanthep Saokosol, Deputy Governor of Khon Kaen Province, presided over the ceremony, which saw the unified participation of government agencies, the private sector, and Khon Kaen citizens.
The morning activities commenced at 06:30 hrs with a Buddhist chanting ceremony and the offering of alms. This was followed at 08:30 hrs by the Homage Rite (Bung Suang) at the Khon Kaen City Pillar Shrine, which included the auspicious opening for the candlelight procession (Wian Tian), the ritual City Pillar Homage Dance, and the offering of traditional Baisi trays and rice popcorn flowers, aligning with local Isan customs. The ceremonies were conducted in an atmosphere steeped in faith from all attendees.
These activities were a crucial part of the Bun Khun Mueang Khon Kaen Festival 2025, held from 2 to 6 December 2025.
KKU’s participation in this event underscores the University’s determined commitment to preserving the culture, traditions, and foundational beliefs of the Khon Kaen people. This engagement is vital for bringing auspiciousness to the city and its residents, while also strengthening excellent relations between the University, government agencies, and the local community.
