KKU President Delivers ‘No Gift Policy’ for 2026, Reaffirming Commitment to Transparency and Anti-Corruption

Khon Kaen University enforces a zero-tolerance stance on gifts to foster a culture of integrity, ethics, and good governance across all institutional levels.

KHON KAEN, THAILAND — Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, officially delivered the institutional policy on the refusal of all gifts and tokens of appreciation resulting from the performance of duties, widely known as the “No Gift Policy,” for the 2026 fiscal year. The directive was issued during Khon Kaen University Administrative Committee Meeting No. 6/2026 to communicate the policy and build awareness among executives at all levels, ensuring it is put into concrete practice across the university.

At the meeting, the President emphasised that executives from every faculty, college, and office must actively communicate and encourage their staff to adhere to the principles of honesty, integrity, transparency, and accountability, with the collective aim of establishing an institutional value system free from all forms of corruption and malpractice.

To reinforce this commitment, Khon Kaen University has issued an official announcement setting out the No Gift Policy and its guidelines for university personnel and their immediate families:

  • Prohibition on accepting gifts: Personnel are prohibited from accepting gifts, tokens, or assets of any kind arising from the performance of their duties.
  • Prohibition on Seeking Benefits: Personnel must not seek personal gains by requesting, receiving, or agreeing to accept assets or any other benefits resulting from duties performed on behalf of the university.
  • Avoidance of Conflicts of Interest: Personnel shall avoid accepting gifts, rewards, or any financial or non-financial privileges from university stakeholders. Exceptions are made only for gifts given in accordance with tradition or during festive seasons, which must not exceed 3,000 baht in value. If it is necessary to accept a gift exceeding this value, the recipient must report it to their supervisor for appropriate handling.
  • Compliance with relevant legislation: All personnel must comply with the Regulations of the Office of the Prime Minister on Giving or Receiving Gifts by Government Officials (CE 2022) and the Announcement of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on the criteria for the acceptance of assets or other benefits on ethical grounds by government officials (CE 2020).
