Khon Kaen – On 10–11 January 2026, the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences (AMS), Khon Kaen University (KKU), opened its doors to welcome over 200 secondary school students and teachers from across the Northeast region.
The event was held under the “The Young Scientist Camp” project, a research training programme in science, designed to provide students with the opportunity to learn about and gain practical experience in Health Sciences through workshops and learning bases led by expert lecturers and personnel from the Faculty.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr. PT. Wanida Dripanha, Assistant Dean for Human Resources and Environment.
Participants engaged in activities throughout the morning and afternoon sessions, divided into four rotating groups to cover all learning bases:
- Mini Med Lab: Learning about urine sediment analysis, mirroring the work of a Medical Technologist, and identifying contaminants in cosmetics.
- Getting to Know Microbiology: What does this field entail? (Including blood group identification.)
- BINGO to School of Physical Therapy
- A Wonder of Nature (Traditional Chinese Medicine)
In addition to the academic bases, the programme featured a vital practical session: First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS). This session was led by trainers from Srinagarind Hospital, who imparted necessary knowledge and skills for safe and correct life-saving procedures. Recreational activities were also integrated to reinforce scientific knowledge among the participants.
The activities were scheduled in timed sessions to ensure all participants could comprehensively experience every base. Faculty members from AMS closely supervised and shared their knowledge and expertise throughout the process.
This project is regarded as a key initiative that fosters knowledge, understanding, and inspiration in Health Sciences among young people, simultaneously reflecting the Faculty of Associated Medical Sciences’ continuous commitment to educational development and academic service to society.
