On 14–15 March 2026, the Faculty of Technology at Khon Kaen University organised the “Techno Powers for Social Creativity” camp, a collaborative initiative by the Faculty of Technology Student Union, the Academic Club, and the Faculty of Agriculture Student Union. The event, held at Nong Kung Sern Nong No Pattana School in Phu Wiang District, Khon Kaen, was designed to promote area-based learning and sustainable community engagement.
The activity took place within the Khon Kaen Geopark, which is currently undergoing evaluation for recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark. This camp played a significant role in supporting the geopark’s development, particularly in the areas of community participation, raising awareness of geological and environmental resources, and fostering a local economy through geotourism.
The event tangibly reflected the identity of EGGS KKU students:
- Entrepreneurial: Applying knowledge to create value from local resources.
- Global-minded: Developing a perspective connected to international standards.
- Growth-oriented: Learning from real-world experiences for continuous personal and professional development.
- Sustainable-focused: Promoting the sustainable use of resources and social responsibility.
Students shared their knowledge in resource surveying and management, along with the application of technology, with local youth and the community. This aligns with the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model, which emphasizes resource efficiency, value creation, and environmental friendliness.
Activities during the camp included academic knowledge-sharing sessions, school improvement projects such as painting buildings, sports and recreational activities, and a campfire gathering. These events helped foster strong relationships and collaborative learning among students, local youth, and the community—a crucial element for the sustainable development of the geopark.
Furthermore, the initiative corresponds with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 , SDG 8 , SDG 11 , SDG 12 , and SDG 17.

This activity serves as another vital mechanism for driving the university’s role in integrated area-based development and genuinely supporting the Khon Kaen Geopark’s journey towards becoming a UNESCO Global Geopark through the active participation of youth and the community.
