The ceremony fosters professional pride and instils the spirit of dentistry as students prepare to enter their clinical years.
KHON KAEN, THAILAND – The Faculty of Dentistry at Khon Kaen University organised its Gown Ceremony for dental students of the 2026 academic year on 5 April 2026. The event, held at a lecture hall in the Mahitlanusorn Building, was attended by faculty members, parents, and students in a warm and meaningful atmosphere.

The Gown Ceremony represents a significant milestone for fourth-year dental students as they transition from theoretical studies to hands-on clinical practice, where they will provide professional care to patients. The white gown serves as a powerful symbol of their newfound responsibilities and marks the true beginning of their journey as dentists.

The event featured several key moments, including the formal presentation of the gowns, the recitation of the student oath, a thank-you address by a student representative, and an insightful speech by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry. The Dean’s address emphasised the importance for the new generation of dentists to be equipped not only with knowledge and skills but also with a strong ethical mindset, adhering strictly to the professional code of conduct and always prioritising patients’ best interests.
In addition to the main ceremony, a panel discussion titled “Offering Hope and Encouragement to Our Future Dentists” was held, where faculty members and senior students shared their experiences to inspire the cohort. An interactive session between the faculty’s administrators and parents was also arranged to foster mutual understanding and cooperation in supporting the students’ development into high-quality professionals.

The primary objective of the ceremony was to cultivate a deep sense of professional pride, instil a firm commitment to morality and ethics, and thoroughly prepare students to become competent dentists ready to serve society with profound responsibility in the future.
The atmosphere throughout the event was filled with profound joy and hope, shared by both the students and their parents, who witnessed this pivotal step into the role of healthcare providers. The Gown Ceremony was more than a formal occasion; it was an event that ignited the spirit of dentistry—a commitment to care for patients with knowledge, compassion, and a lasting sense of social responsibility.
