Faculty of Education, KKU Collaborates with Human Research Ethics Center to Elevate Research Standards to Global Excellence

On April 27, 2026, the Faculty of Education, Khon Kaen University (KKU), in partnership with the KKU Human Research Ethics Center, organized a workshop titled “Human Subject Protection” (ED Batch 2) at the Saisuree Chutikul Meeting Room. Professor Polpun Boonmak, M.D., Director of the Human Research Ethics Center, presided over the opening ceremony and served as the keynote speaker. This strategic initiative was designed to reinforce the university’s research ecosystem, focusing on ethical integrity and international compliance to support sustainable academic growth.

In his opening address, Professor Polpun Boonmak, M.D. highlighted the critical role of ethics in the modern academic landscape, stating, “In an era where research is the cornerstone of national development, understanding research ethics is not merely a procedural formality but a global standard that every researcher must strictly uphold”. He further emphasized that maintaining high ethical standards is essential for protecting human rights, mitigating legal risks, and ensuring that research contributions are recognized on an international scale, which is a key requirement for securing research grants and publishing in world-class journals.

The workshop provided participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical strategies to navigate the complexities of ethical research. The program covered fundamental principles and regulations, research planning for ethical compliance, and systematic risk-benefit assessments. Furthermore, expert speakers from various ethics committees shared specialized insights and case studies across biomedical, social, and behavioral sciences. These sessions focused on participant privacy protection, informed consent processes, and the ethical treatment of vulnerable groups, ensuring that researchers are well-equipped to meet the rigorous requirements of ethical review committees.

This collaboration represents a significant step forward for the Faculty of Education in fostering a culture of scholarly excellence among faculty members, staff, and students. By aligning research practices with global benchmarks, the Faculty aims to enhance its academic reputation and professional advancement opportunities.
