IRDPT joins in upgrading educational quality through Lesson Study with teachers of Anubanphanatsuksalai School

July 13-14, 2023 – The Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, Khon Kaen University and the Center for Research in Mathematics Education, welcomed the administrators and teachers from Anubanphanatsuksalai School, Chonburi Province, Office of Primary Education Service Area 2, Chonburi, to the workshop on: Thailand Lesson Study Incorporated with Open Approach (TLSOA)

IRDPT has held the MOU signing ceremony between the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN and Anubanphanatsuksalai School, Chonburi Province, at Conference Room 2201, Building 2 of IRDPT. The MOU has as its objectives to develop the process of Active Learning, to build a professional learning community, and to develop the competency of teachers and educators of the school as well as to collaborate in developing educators in the school in the Whole-School Approach and cooperation between the school and the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN and the Center for Research in Mathematics Education (CRME), using the Lesson Study Innovation and the Open Approach (TLSOA).

 


Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service and Acting Director of IRDPT delivered the opening speech and welcomed the administrators and teachers of the School, while Dr. Sam-ang Sudsa-ad, Director of Anubanphanatsuksalai School, Chonburi said that the school was pleased with the collaboration.


Dr. Sam-ang Sudsa-ad said, “The school has discussed about the approaches to be taken for upgrading the educational quality, has seen the curriculum and acknowledged about the implementation of the instructional innovation of the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN. The School is impressed and trusts Khon Kaen University in this regard. The School truly appreciates Khon Kaen University in preparing quality graduates and therefore is very happy to sign an MOU, which will lead to further requests for assistance from Khon Kaen University in the future.”


At the event, Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University came to welcome and congratulate the administrators and teachers of Anubanphanatsuksalai School, both as the President of Khon Kaen University and an alumnus of Anubanphanatsuksalai School, Chonburi.
The MOU between the Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN and Panassuksalai Kindergarten was signed on IDRPT’s part by Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., Vice President for Education and Academic Service and Acting Director of IRDPT, and on Anubanphanatsuksalai School part by Dr. Sam-ang Sudsa-ad, Director of Anubanphanatsuksalai School, Chonburi. Among distinguished witnesses were Asst. Prof. Narumon Changsri, Ph.D., Assistant to the Director of IDRPT for Research and Innovation Development; Mr. Khomsan Kalayarat, Deputy Director of Anubanphanatsuksalai School for Academic Administration (an alumnus of the Mathematics Education Program, Faculty of Education, Class 3); and 222 other witnesses including administrators and staff of Khon Kaen University and Anubanphanatsuksalai School.

The Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN, on this occasion, also organized special talks on: 1) Thailand Lesson Study incorporated with Open Approach (TLSOA) by Assoc. Prof. Maitree Inprasitha, Ph.D., and 2) the Active Learning in Japan through the perspective of TLSOA by Mr. Ark Inprasitha, an expert in Teacher Profession Development. The talks were meant to build understanding of the innovation and its application at school by the school administrators and teachers.

IRDPT also took administrators and teachers from two schools to observe ongoing classrooms, as follows: Bannongkungwittayakan School – observing 2 classes: Mathematics Lesson, Grade 2 and Science and Technology lesson, Grade 7; Thairathwittaya 84 School (Bansamranpiafan) – observing 3 classes: Mathematics Lesson, Grade 2; Mathematics Lesson, Grade 4; and Calculating Science, Grade 2.

On July 14, 2023 – IRDPT organized a workshop on Co-Learning Management Planning and Design, which was divided into 6 small groups: Pattern Block: Kindergarten, Mathematics Class: Grade 1, Language and Social Science Class: Grade 2, Integrated Art Class: Grade 3, Mathematics Class: Grade 4, and Science Classes: Grades 5 and 6. The participating teachers were able to design their lesson plans with close supervision from experts.

Anubanphanatsuksalai School, affiliated to Office of Primary Education Service Area 2, Chonburi, is a big-sized school, running classes from Kindergarten 2 to Grade 6, with 3,365 pupils. The Institute for Research and Development in Teaching Profession for ASEAN hopes to build collaboration in developing the education, instruction, active learning process; build a professional learning community, and develop the competency of teachers and educators of the school. Another objective is to apply the Whole School Approach when carrying out the above missions, based on continuous application of innovations. This is in accordance with the strategy of IDRPT in academic service for teacher and educator profession development in order to support the security in quality and equality education for everyone and to support lifelong learning according to SDG4.
