KKU hosts the learning and sharing event of 8 RSPG allies from all over the country to plan how to achieve the country’s SDGs

May 9, 2024 – Khon Kaen University, as the issue host of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Upper Northeast Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (C-RSPG) and the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation organized a workshop on the learning and sharing of the issue network of the 2024 Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Upper Northeast Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (C-RSPG Network). Mr. Panpermsak Arunee, Acting Advisor for the Development of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) delivered the opening address, while Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., DVM., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, Khon Kaen University and Chairman of the C-RSPG Upper Northeast Network welcomed the distinguished participants, including Dr. Piyarat Prinyapong Charoensap, Assistant Director of RSPG; Mrs. Supaporn Chokchalermwong, Director of the Research and Innovation Fund Division 1, the National Research Council, and Chairman and representative of the issue network of the 8 RSPG allies; administrators, lecturers, personnel of the network institutions, totaling over 180 people. The event was organized at Rajawadee Resort and Hotel, Khon Kaen.


Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., DVM., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, Khon Kaen University mentioned in her welcoming speech that Khon Kaen University is assigned by the Office of Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation this year to host the event, which is on the learning and sharing of the issue network of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Upper Northeast Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (C-RSPG). The objectives of this event were to strengthen the network and extend the research and academic collaboration of the network institutions and the relevant sectors.


“This event aims at acknowledging all sectors of the policy and means of implementation of REPG as the basis for planning the operational direction of the network, creating a collaborative for learning and sharing of experiences and problem solution, and following up of the work outcomes as well as publicizing the activities of the network for further extension and development.”


Mr. Panpermsak Arunee, Acting Advisor for the Development of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation (MHESI) said that this workshop was under the cooperation between RSPG and the 9 network institutions. This event is held every year, with alternate host in each region. Members are able to learn the working style of each institution, demonstrating the importance of strong network.


“For the fiscal year 2024, MHESI and C-RSPG of 9 network will emphasize the target of neutral carbon and net zero emission of greenhouse gas in all universities all over the country. Collaboration will be expanded to other relevant allies. It is hoped that the activity will help enabling universities to carry out the work to achieve the national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).”

The 2024 workshop on the learning and sharing of the issue network of the 2024 Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Upper Northeast Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (C-RSPG Network) was held on May 8-10, 2024 at Rajawadee Resort and Hotel, Khon Kaen. On May 9, there were important activities such as special talks on: Extend the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (RSPG) by Prof. Thidarat Boonmars, Ph.D., DVM., Vice President for Innovation and Enterprise, Khon Kaen University and Chairman of the C-RSPG Upper Northeast Network; and on Policies and Implementation of the Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Srindhorn (RSPG) by Dr. Piyarat Prinyapong Charoensap, Assistant Director of RSPG. The afternoon session featured a forum on: “Integration of Research for Utilization and the Society” by the C-RSPG Network of the Central, South, Upper Northeast, North, and Lower Northeast regions. On May 10, the 9 networks joined the study trip to Nong Waeng the Royal Monastery, Khon Kaen University Science Park, the Prototype Food Pilot Plant, the Battery and New Energy Plant, the Natural Science Museum of Khon Kaen University, the Prototype Research Plant for Producing Protein Insect, Faculty of Agriculture, Khon Kaen University.
