Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, held a capping and pinning ceremony for second-year nursing students for the academic year 2025

On November 28, 2025, the Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, held a Cap and Gown Ceremony for second-year nursing students for the academic year 2025. Associate Professor Dr. Ampornpan Theeranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, presided over the ceremony. Also present were executives from various training hospitals, including Srinagarind Hospital, Khon Kaen Psychiatric Hospital, Sirikit National Cardiac Center, and Khon Kaen Regional Medical Center 7, along with the Khon Kaen University Nursing Student Club, nursing students from all years, and parents of the second-year students. The event took place at Srikalapreuk Meeting Room, Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University.

The annual Capping and Gown Ceremony is a significant milestone for nursing students. It aims to instil a deep understanding of the roles, duties, and ethical responsibilities of the nursing profession, strengthen professional attitudes and competencies, and foster strong collaboration between parents, faculty members, and students as they progress toward becoming professional nurses.

Associate Professor Dr. Ampornpan Theeranut, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University, stated, “On behalf of the Faculty of Nursing, I would like to congratulate and warmly welcome everyone to be a part of the nursing profession. Receiving the cap and gown today marks a significant beginning for the practical learning journey of our students. The nursing cap symbolizes humility, modesty, and a readiness to care for and assist others at all times. It makes the wearer aware of their roles, duties, and responsibilities, and to conduct themselves appropriately according to the professional ethics of nursing, just like Miss Florence Nightingale, the English lady known as ‘The Lady with the Lamp,’ who dedicated her life to nursing. Every night, she would carry a lamp to visit and care for injured soldiers, and the light from her lamp was like a beacon that dispelled the darkness and suffering of the patients.”

The Dean of the Faculty of Nursing further added that “The cap and gown ceremony signifies a certain level of achievement and prepares students for practical training where they must take responsibility for the patients under their care. The nursing cap is a symbol that they have stepped into the nursing profession and recognize their responsibility to the profession and to be good nurses according to societal expectations. It also serves as a professional symbol for the wearer to be aware of their roles, duties, and responsibilities towards the profession and society as a ‘leading nursing education institution for a healthy society’.”

The ceremony is scheduled for Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Srikalapreuk Meeting Room, Faculty of Nursing, Khon Kaen University. Activities include a meeting with parents of second-year Bachelor of Nursing Science students, viewing a video titled “Nurturing Professional Nursing Sprouts,” a lecture on “Academic Support for Developing Professional Nursing Students,” an introduction to homeroom teachers and approaches to student development, a discussion on “Cooperation between Parents and the Faculty of Nursing in Student Development,” and the cap and gown presentation and adornment ceremony for second-year nursing students by executives from training hospitals and faculty member.
