Khon Kaen, Thailand – The Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University have collaborated to host the “13th Phra That Phanom Thongkham Witthayanuson Academic Camp,” a volunteer-led project aimed at inspiring high school students to pursue careers in the health sciences.

The camp ran from 27 April to 2 May 2026*, on the university campus, with the aim of enhancing the academic potential of high school students interested in health-related fields.
The programme featured a diverse range of activities covering both academic and personal development. Core subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English were taught through lectures and smaller “academic clinics” to develop subject understanding and effective study skills.

The camp also offered guidance on higher education and university life through specialised sessions. “Intro Med” and “Intro Dent” activities gave participants an insight into the real-world experiences of medical and dental students.
Beyond the classroom, the camp focused on developing life skills through recreational and team-building activities. These included icebreakers, a walk rally, “Running Man,” and other teamwork challenges designed to foster collaboration, communication, and unity. The programme also included sessions for self-discovery and personal growth, such as identity exploration workshops, daily reflection periods, and a candle ceremony — a memorable closing ritual that left a lasting impression on participants.
Organisers noted that the project aimed not only to impart academic knowledge but also to instil a spirit of volunteerism, giving, and sacrifice. It also focused on developing 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability.
The atmosphere throughout the camp was described as warm and collegial, reflecting the shared aspirations of students preparing to enter the healthcare field. The event reflects the commitment of both faculties to developing the potential of Thai youth and nurturing high-calibre health professionals for the future.
