Bangkok, Thailand – Students from Khon Kaen University’s Business School and Accountancy (KKBS) have won the top prize at the 1st National MICE and Events Quiz Competition.
The victory took place during the 8th MICE Academy Day 2026, an event themed “MICE Universe Towards Sustainability,” held on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.

The winning team, named “Mai Bok,” consisted of students from the Bachelor of Business Administration program, majoring in Service and Event Business Management. The team members—Ms. Wiranya Wipatin, Ms. Woranan Woramanin, and Ms. Chalisa Krotkla—were awarded a scholarship of 6,000 baht.

Ms. Woranan Woramanin, a third-year student and team member, described the final round as a tense on-stage contest. “All five teams stood at their university’s podium to answer questions,” she said. “Two teams ended up with the same score, requiring a tie-breaker question.”
She recalled one challenging scenario-based question: “If a summer storm was forecast one week before an event, what would you do? We had to choose between options A, B, or C. It was a risk management problem, so we used what we learned in class to provide an analytical answer. I plan to apply the knowledge from this competition in my future career. It was my first time competing, and I didn’t expect to win at all. It feels great, and I have to thank our professors who coached us intensively before the event.”
The students were guided by a team of faculty advisors: Assistant Professor Dr. Thongrawee Silanoi, Associate Professor Dr. Supawat Meeprom, Assistant Professor Dr. Akkaporn Kokkangplu, and Assistant Professor Dr. Poramet Charatmetakul. A second team from the university, “Ru Rueng MICE,” also participated in the competition.

The national competition attracted 51 teams from 23 educational institutions across the country. Following a selection process, 29 finalist teams advanced to the main stage for the final round. The event was not only a test of knowledge but also aimed to develop the “Next Generation of MICE Professionals” through a real-world experience designed as a Net Zero Carbon Event, reflecting international standards for sustainable event management.
This achievement demonstrates the capabilities of KKBS students in terms of their professional knowledge and competitive skills on a national stage. It also highlights the faculty’s commitment to producing high-quality graduates poised to drive the MICE and events industry forward and contribute to sustainable economic and social development.
