Khon Kaen, Thailand – The Faculty of Dentistry and the Faculty of Medicine at Khon Kaen University have collaborated to host the “13th Phra That Phanom Thongkham Witthayanuson Academic Camp,” a volunteer-led project aimed at inspiring high school students to pursue careers in the health sciences.

The camp, which ran from April 27 to May 2, 2027, on the university campus, was designed to enhance the academic potential of high school students interested in health-related fields.
The program featured a diverse range of activities covering both academics and personal development. Core academic subjects such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and English were taught through lectures and smaller “academic clinics” to provide in-depth understanding and effective learning techniques.

In addition, the camp offered guidance on higher education and university life through specialized sessions. “Intro Med” and “Intro Dent” activities gave participants a close-up look at the real-world experiences of medical and dental students.
Beyond academics, the camp focused on developing life skills through intensive recreational and team-building exercises. Activities like icebreakers, a walk rally, “Running Man,” and other teamwork challenges were organized to foster collaboration, communication, and unity. The program also included sessions for self-discovery and personal growth, such as identity exploration workshops, daily reflection periods, and a candle ceremony, which served as a key moment for creating lasting impressions and inspiration.
Organizers noted that the project aimed not only to impart academic knowledge but also to instill a spirit of volunteerism, giving, and sacrifice. It also focused on developing 21st-century skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and adaptability.
The atmosphere throughout the camp was described as warm and filled with friendship and the aspirations of young people preparing to enter the healthcare field. The event reflects the commitment of both faculties to developing the potential of Thai youth and cultivating quality medical professionals for the future.
