Computer Engineering joins Origin Property (Public Company) to organize 2024 Hackathon Challenge – KKUxOrigin, with prizes of 60,000 baht

Department of Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Khon Kaen University joined Origin Property Public Company to organize the 2024 Hackathon Challenge – KKUxOrigin that was aimed to enable students to sharpen their skills in team and brainstorm ideas for developing new businesses. The student teams had to compete against one another under the condition of time and resource limits, for the prizes amounting to 60,000 baht. The winner will have a chance to extend their business in a startup, of course supported by Origin Property Public Company.

Assoc. Prof. Chatchai Khunbua, Ph.D., a lecturer of the Computer Engineering program, who was responsible for the project, explained that besides fundamental knowledge students should acquire from classrooms, skill training in teams and product development that will end in real use are very important. That was why this 2024 Hackathon Challenge – KKUxOrigin was organized. The participating students would have a chance to develop a prototype called ‘Mininum Viable Product’ (MVP) or a product with the market property, before extending it to a complete product for the direct target group. The students were able to apply their knowledge with collaboration from other fields, both at the graduate and undergraduate levels. In so doing, they brought a topic of interest to learn more about it and solve what is still a problem. Therefore, they would see how to solve the problem from various dimensions. With collaboration from a private company, the students acquired more experiences and received ideas and instruction from the private sector or the real user. This led to innovations that are useful and can be extended towards business development. In the 2024 Hackathon Challenge – KKUxOrigin, 30 teams of 5 students each joined and 20 passed the criteria.
Following are the results of the 2024 Hackathon Challenge – KKUxOrigin
