Khon Kaen University President congratulates 2022 graduates

His Majesty the King has assigned Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to come to bestow the degree certificates upon the 2022 graduates of Khon Kaen University on Monday December 19, 2022 and Tuesday December 20, 2022 at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center, Khon Kaen University.

The 55th class of graduates in 2022 totals 7,433 people, divided into 261 doctoral degree graduates, 153 recipients of graduate diplomas, 868 masters’ degree graduates, and 6,151 bachelors’ degree graduates. Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University, delivered the congratulations speech to the graduates as follows:

“On behalf of Khon Kaen University, I congratulate all graduates this year who have completed your studies and returned to the University to receive the degree certificates on this occasion. It is the good opportunity for us to congratulate all graduates and their families.”

“Khon Kaen University would like to leave some notion to you that apart from the knowledge and competency you obtained from Khon Kaen University, you will acquire more knowledge and skills in your profession. At present when the world has rapidly changed, you must have heard that we are living in the age of VUCA, which is the abbreviation of: Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity.”

“The problems of the world nowadays are becoming more complicated, and so VUCA has become BANI, from the words: Brittle, Anxious, Nonlinear, and Incomprehensible. ‘Brittle’ means fragility and readiness to expand, for we do not know what is going to happen. Then ‘Anxious’ is the feeling that we have towards many issues. There is the anticipation that cannot be predicted, which is referred to as ‘Nonlinear’. We cannot say what the outcome of 1+1 is, or what the result of certain situation is, like we could do in the past. There is the issue of ‘Incomprehensible’, where we cannot truly understand anything. These are the things that will bring troubles to our graduates in your job. Whatever it is, I’d like to support you all, that from the age of VUCA to BANI, you should rely on the skills and knowledge that you have obtained from the University and are prepared to learn more, adjust yourself and learn new things to be ready to confront the changes at all time.”

“I wish all graduates to be mentally strong and physically healthy so that you are ready to face problems and obstacles and succeed in your work, no matter where you are in the society. I wish you success and prosperity in your career so that you will bring pride and reputation to yourself and your family, as well as the University,” said Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul, M.D., President of Khon Kaen University.
