Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts applies Isan wisdom to adorn the 2022 Degree Conferral venue with graceful beauty and value

The Degree Conferral Ceremony of Khon Kaen University for the year 2022 on December 19-20, 2022 at the Golden Jubilee Convention Center of the University had continuously been prepared by all sections so that the ceremony would appear perfect. The venue, the Golden Jubilee Convention Center was decorated elegantly and gracefully by the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts this year, bringing appreciation and pride among the people who attended.

Asst. Prof. Burin Plengdeesakul, Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts explained about the background of the adornment of the Degree Conferral venue this year. “The Faculty has been assigned by Khon Kaen University to be responsible for designing and decorating the venue for the event. This was done firstly by brainstorming ideas from lecturers, students, and alumni of the Faculty. The concept is to demonstrate the life journey of every one, with the commencement point, the path, and the destination. If we compare the journey as learning, then the science and arts, the knowledge and wisdoms from the first day of the student’s university life are the learning steps. Each student begins the journey by collecting information, knowledge and experiences, science and arts of life, working knowledge and human knowledge that all lead to the destination of graduation, or being a graduate from KKU with pride and completion on the commencement day.”

Asst. Prof. Preechawut Apirating, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Art, Culture and Creative Economy of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts added about the adorning concept of the Degree Conferral venue of 2022. “The working team has selected the fertile wisdom of Isan, including wisdom of wickerwork, wisdom of earthenware, wisdoms of art, painting, decorating patterns, and sculpture, wisdom of indigo dyeing and the patterns on the bricks of Phra That Panom. These concepts have been incorporated with the former characteristics of adornment in the past, that is, using farm produces such as grains and flowers to organize the place with valuable and elegant decorations.”
