College of Local Administration (COLA) hosts a workshop on “Training program on Special Impact and Relocation Management of Hydropower Project” and welcomes participants from Laos to share expertise on institutional management.
The developing countries need to have balance in their development in order to create sustainable development on their communities and economy. With its attempt to be “a battery of Asia”, Laos has been creating many dams in order to use the stored water for electricity generation and creating revenue for the country. To ensure that its people can help mobilise the country development, Faculty of Social Sciences, National University of Laos, encourages its administrative for professional development.
COLA hosts a workshop called, “Training Program on Social Impact and Relocation Management of Hydropower Project for Administrators and Faculty Members of the Faculty of Social Sciences, National University of Laos, Lao PDR” between 28-31 August. The event took place both at the College of Local Administration and at the areas around Ubolrat Dam. The August 28 opening ceremony was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), an advisor to the acting president. Following the opening ceremony, dean of the College of Local Administration, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supawatanakorn Wongthanawasoo, welcomed the guests and briefed about the origin of COLA.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Supawatanakorn Wongthanawasoo said COLA was established in response to the Thailand’s decentralisation policy and the national constitution 1997. COLA has mission to serve not only in producing graduates and conducting research but also to be partnership for community development and agent of change. “Our organisation values collaborating with allies as a mean to help us maintain our role in social development”, added the dean.
