IP Demo Day 2019 exhibits 36 research for product development

  Intellectual Property Center of KKU hosts IP Demo Day 2019 to exhibit product development research at The Auditorium of KKU Science Park.

On September 30, 2019, Intellectual Property Center of KKU hosts IP Demo Day 2019 to exhibit product development research at The Auditorium of KKU Science Park. The event was presided over by Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), an advisor to the acting president, and attended by about 200 people. The activity was conducted to promote the student creativity on product development and the award-winning products will be used for commercial purposes under KKU patents.

Assoc. Prof. Charnchai Panthongviriyakul (M.D.), an advisor to the acting president, said that the activity conformed to the university’s strategy on research transformation at which the research findings are further developed for social and commercial gains.

“KKU Intellectual Property Center appoints the students’ projects that have been granted the product patents or petty patents for this contest. The works must be used for product design or in business planning.  This activity can broadcast the KKU research achievement while promoting interdisciplinary learning among the students. It also fosters the students’ interest on startup business and becoming new entrepreneurs”. Said the advisor or the acting president.

The students who participated in the contests were those enrolling in the following courses; Sales Promotion of the Faculty of Business Administration and Accountancy, Industrial Design 3, English for Designers of the Faculty of Architecture, International Sales Management of International College and Food Technology by the Faculty of Technology. There were 36 projects attended the competition which were classified four categories of product design and business planning namely; Gastrological Industry (English Version), Cosmetic (Thai Version), Drug and Food Supplement (Thai version), and Science Industry and medication (Thai Version).

Miss Lalita Chotiwatagawanit, a junior marketing student and first runner-up for the Science Industry and Medication representing her team said her team, Gluay Som Team, comprises of 5 members. Her project was developed from an engineering professor from KKU. It was about probiotic acid with the mixture of rice husk

“After obtaining permission from the researcher, we came up with the idea to design a zip-locker which would be used for food keeping. The product was painted with pictures of nature to mean that the designed package is biodegradable within 6-12 months. This prototype product should attract market’s interest since the degradable packaging is on a high demand. Winning this award is beneficial for us since we can have a certificate to qualify our folio for the future job application.

Cracfie Group’s banana cracker product wins the gastrological industry award.

Apple Group’s Yangna extract foundation product wins the cosmetic industry award.

JasonGroup’s Rice and Probiotic capsule product wins the drug and food supplement industry award.

Sasame Group’s black sesame husk scrub cream wins the best presentation award.

Jelly Fiber wins the IP Star award.
